Design
Together, we walk your yard and talk through what you like and don’t like, your favorite plants and your goals for the space. I observe light, soil, slope, drainage and how you actually use the landscape. From there, I develop a clear direction for layout, plant selection, and long-term function.
Some projects need a simple plan and priorities. Others benefit from a more detailed, phased approach. The goal is not to overdesign but to make smart decisions that hold up over time.
This is not a cookie-cutter, instant solution. We are building a long-term plan. In many cases, that means thinking in a three-year horizon using the sleep, creep, leap approach.
The goal is a landscape that functions as habitat, attracting pollinators and the eye in equal measure, with less water, no chemicals and minimal reliance on gas-powered maintenance.
Install
Installation is where the plan meets reality. I source quality plants, place them with intention and install them in a way that sets them up to establish and thrive. Attention is paid to spacing, soil contact, root health and long-term growth, not just how things look on day one.
I work efficiently and thoughtfully, whether it’s a small planting or a larger transformation. The goal is a landscape that settles in well, fills out over time and reflects the original design without needing constant correction or replacement.
Maintenance
Maintenance is about guiding the landscape, not constantly fighting it. I focus on selective weeding, pruning and editing to support plant health, structure and long-term balance. The goal is to reduce unnecessary work over time, not create a cycle of endless upkeep.
Visits are targeted and intentional, whether seasonal or occasional. I pay attention to how the landscape is evolving and make adjustments that keep it moving in the right direction. Done well, maintenance becomes lighter each year as the garden fills in and stabilizes.
A typical maintenace schedule after installation looks like this:
Year 1: 2 to 4 hours per month
Year 2: around 2 hours per month
Year 3 and beyond: 2 to 4 hours per month, with reduced or no visits during the slower winter months
